Area Rankings

Here is a look at the top-5 teams from the Lakeshore Region according to Hoops on the Lakes. These will be updated every week, so check back often to catch the latest poll. Information compiled by Jon Weisbrod.

Hoops on the Lake Top-5, March 9 (final poll)

1. Hopkins (25-0)
-Sewed up regular season with 119 points against Armstrong.
-Coming up: Hosts St. Louis Park in section tournament on home floor.
2. Wayzata (19-6)
-Experienced both ends of the spectrum last week after losing to Armstrong before beating state-ranked Edina. The victory against the Hornets was the Trojans' first against a Class 4A top 10 team in five tries.
-Coming up: Opens postseason at home against Minneapolis Southwest after earning No. 2 seed in section.
3. Robbinsdale Armstrong (12-13)
-Took down state-ranked Wayzata but also allowed a staggering 119 points to powerful Hopkins in a pair of games last week.
-Coming up: Earned a respectable third seed in Section 6-4A bracket. Opens against Minneapolis South.
4. Benilde-St. Margaret's (13-9)
-Beat North Branch and lost to Class 4A top 5 Robbinsdale Cooper last week.
-Coming up: Tough draw in opening round as Knights collide with WCC co-champion Delano, a team that won 21 of its 24 games this season.
5. Minnetonkna (12-10)
-Cracked Hoops on the Lake top 5 for the first time in several weeks by default. It was either the Skippers or Mound (losers of six straight).
-Coming up: Takes on Minneapolis North in first round of postseason.
